Hans Island

Hans Island is located between Canada and Greenland in the strait that connects Baffin Bay to the Arctic Ocean. Used by the Inuit as a hunting ground for centuries, it was later found by 19th-century British and American explorers searching for the Northwest Passage and the North Pole. Crusaders Take the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem (1099)

Built in the 4th century by Constantine, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem is the supposed location of Jesus' tomb. The holy site was captured and partially destroyed numerous times, and, in 1096, the First Crusade was launched in part to recapture it. In 1099, Crusaders poured into Jerusalem, killed its non-Christian population, and took the church. It was rebuilt, and has since been carefully divided among quarreling Christian factions. Rondo Days Celebration (2017)

The Rondo Days Celebration launched in 1983 as a showcase for the rich African-American culture and heritage of the Rondo community in St. Paul, Minnesota, which was destroyed in the 1960s by the construction of the I-94 freeway. A celebration of multi-cultural food, art, music, and activities, it now draws up to 35,000 visitors a year. Other highlights include a community parade, a free dinner honoring the community's senior citizens, and a five-kilometer fun walk and run. China Revives World's Longest Undersea Tunnel Project

China has announced plans to revive an undersea tunnel project that will allow vehicular traffic to cross under the Bohai Strait, cutting the travel distance between China's eastern and northeastern regions by 620 miles (998 km). When completed, the tunnel will span 76.4 miles (123 km), more than twice the distance of Japan's Seikan Tunnel, currently the world's longest undersea tunnel. The project was first announced in the 1990s and was set to be completed before 2010 at a cost of $10 billion. However, it never went beyond the planning stage.
