Virtual Local Area Network

(networking)Virtual Local Area Network - (VLAN) A logical grouping of two or more nodes which are not necessarily on the same physical network segment but which share the same IP network number. This is often associated with switched Ethernet.

IEEE 802.1Q is a VLAN standard.
