An area in New York that has become known for its companies devoted to multimedia and the Internet. It is located in Manhattan's "Soho" district, which does not stand for Small Office Home Office, rather it is SOuth of HOuston Street. In early 2000, Rising Tide was publishing two print magazines, Silicon Alley Reporter and Digital Coast Reporter, as well as four online publications: Silicon Alley Daily, Digital Coast Weekly, iHealthcare Weekly and Digital Music Weekly. Rising Tide Studios (New York), the publisher of the electronic and, now- closed, print editions of Silicon Alley Reporter and Digital Coast Reporter magazines, has begun the publication of Venture Reporter magazine. The Silicon Alley Reporter, a magazine which began life in 1996 as a newsletter covering New York City's new media industry, has ceased publication, citing declining technology advertising. |
